Created for His Glory: Shine for Him
READY
“But the path of the righteous is like the light of dawn, which shines brighter and brighter until full day.”
Proverbs 4:18
SET
“I believe God made me for a purpose, but He also made me fast! And when I run, I feel His pleasure.”
Eric Liddell, the 1924 Olympian, is known not only for his speed but also for his faith.
He famously chose to honor God by not competing in the 100m—his best event—because the race was scheduled on a Sunday.
Instead, he ran the 200m and 400m, trusting God with the results.
Liddell’s decision led to a bronze medal in the 200m and a gold in the 400m, where he set a world record of 47.6 seconds.
His story is a powerful reminder of 1 Samuel 2:30:
“Those who honor me I will honor.”
1 Samuel 2:30
Liddell’s goal was simple—to glorify God in everything he did.
What about you? What is your aim in life?
Jesus declared in His Sermon on the Mount,
“You are the light of the world.”
Matthew 5:14
Light stands out, especially in the darkness.
But where does this light come from? Do we create it ourselves?
No.
The light Jesus spoke of comes from God.
It is His light shining through us.
As His people, our purpose is not to draw attention to ourselves but to point others to Him.
“In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.”
Matthew 5:16
Any beauty seen in us as Christ-followers is simply the reflection of His presence in our lives.
Wherever God places you this week, remember—you are created to shine for His glory.
Whether you’re on a run or just “running around” through daily life, let His light shine through you.
May every step you take point back to Him!
