God’s Glory Received: Lights On
READY
“In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.”
Matthew 5:16 (ESV)
SET
When my friend Abby saw me after a long while, she was surprised—I looked different: slimmer, stronger, and more energetic.
I told her the “good news” of strength training and how it was helping me in this season of midlife.
She even asked for my personal trainer’s contact.
A few months later, we met up again with another friend who had also started lifting weights.
As a former runner, she never realized how strength and cardio training could work together.
Abby said she really wanted to give it a try, but with two young kids, she just couldn’t find the time.
Then one day, I bumped into her again.
She was beaming—and flexing!
She had started working out 2–3 times a week.
“It’s making me a stronger, happier wife and mum,” she shared.
Her family supported her new routine, and now her transformation was inspiring others around her to start, too.
If strength training can bring visible change and influence, how much more powerful is the gospel?
When we live in the truth that we are deeply loved and fully accepted by God—not by our performance, but through Christ—we begin to reflect His glory.
His Spirit works in us to serve His purposes for our generation.
People around us may start to wonder: Why do you seem different?
They may not respond the first time we share.
But as God places more believers in their path, they might start to notice a common light.
Over time, their hearts may soften, and their story might one day join the chorus in glorifying God.
Receiving God’s glory isn’t just about believing in Him—it’s about trusting, obeying, and letting His light shine through our love and good works.
James 2:19 reminds us,
“You believe that God is one; you do well. Even the demons believe—and shudder!”
James 2:19
True belief leads to transformation. And transformation leads to light.
