Created in His Image: Rearchitected For God’s Glory
READY
“For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”
Ephesians 2:10
SET
I’ve always had a competitive spirit.
I love pushing myself to do more and be better than before.
That sounds like a good thing, right?
It can be—but it can also be dangerous when the need to outdo yourself takes over and you become consumed by it.
As John Blumberg writes in Return on Integrity, when that happens, you start to drift.
Eden’s fall wasn’t caused by bad intentions.
It was the pursuit of something good in the wrong way.
Wisdom is good.
A fruit that nourishes the body is good.
The desire for these things wasn’t wrong—the way they were pursued led to the fall.
I started running recreationally out of boredom.
Living in a foreign country with too much free time on weekends and my family miles away, I turned to the outdoors.
I’ve always loved being outside since my university days, and the thrill of pushing myself was always there.
Over time, running became more than a pastime—it started to consume me.
Then came the injuries.
Weeks of forced rest gave God an opportunity to speak.
He reminded me that I was still His servant, whether I was running or not.
When I recovered, I saw my fitness through a new lens.
My body was truly God’s workmanship.
I had shared photos of my physical transformation on social media, even taking credit for my progress.
But in His love, God reminded me that beyond appearances, He had a greater purpose for my running.
He wanted to take center stage.
I surrendered.
I now invite Him into my runs, intentionally sharing my faith, offering encouragement, and even praying during group runs.
I’ve come to realize that God is deeply invested in using my fitness for His glory.
GO
- Is your identity rooted in your accomplishments or aspirations? If you don’t achieve them, would you feel any less valuable?
- How does shifting from being your own workmanship to being His workmanship change the way you navigate success and failure?
- Pray that God will reveal the good works He has prepared for you as His handiwork.

I like ! He does introduce new paths to us . We are His workmanship created to do good works. May He find us faithful.
Amen. He always brings new paths, and more importantly, straight paths, paths that lead to righteousness! Amen!
