Created in His Image: Made for a Purpose
READY
“For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.”
Psalm 139:13-14
SET
Have you ever thought about how many heartbeats you’ve had in all your runs and workouts?
On a recent 23-minute, 57-second run, my heart beat 3,592 times.
Another 55-minute run totaled 10,070 heartbeats!
Every beat, every breath—God intricately designed our bodies, and by His grace, He sustains us for a purpose.
You were created on purpose and for a purpose.
The same God who created the heavens and the earth made mankind in His own image.
“So God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.”
Genesis 1:27
But what does it mean to be made in His image?
It means that we reflect aspects of His nature. He gave us the ability to think, to choose, to worship, and ultimately, to represent Him in His creation.
Yet, with that ability to choose, mankind chose sin over perfect fellowship with God.
Adam and Eve’s disobedience brought sin into the world, leading to brokenness, separation, and death.
But God had a plan to redeem what was lost.
“By sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh…”
Romans 8:3
Jesus, the Son of God—sinless, holy, and full of grace and truth—came into the world as a man. Fully God and fully human, He paid the price for our sin.
“For without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sins.”
Hebrews 9:22
He died on the cross and rose again so that we might have life.
God loves you deeply and created you to know Him.
Receiving His love means stepping into true life—life to the fullest.
Faith pleases Him, and salvation is the starting line of the greatest race you’ll ever run.
If you’re searching for your purpose, look to the One who made you.
His Word is your guide.
You are fearfully and wonderfully made, designed to know Jesus and walk in the calling He has for you.
Never underestimate what God can do through a life fully surrendered to Him.
GO
- How does knowing that God created people in His image shape the way you see yourself and others?
- What characteristics of God are hardest for you to understand? Where can you go to learn more about who He is and His plans for you?
- Is there any fear holding you back from surrendering your life fully to Jesus? What’s stopping you from trusting Him completely?
