Run in Freedom
READY:
“For you were called to freedom, brothers. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve on another.”
Galatians 5:13
SET:
Jesus died with his feet nailed together.
Let that sink in.
His feet were nailed to a cross.
Of all the positions that our feet could ever be in, having your feet nailed to a cross would never be defined as a position of freedom, but one of excruciating pain and constraint.
However, God flips things around.
What looked like one of the greatest moments of defeat in history turned into the greatest victory.
Resurrection came.
The power of sin and death was forever wiped out by the blood that was spilled on Calvary for you and me.
“For freedom Christ has set us free.”
How does this have to do with running?
When you take a stride as you run, remember the nails that put Jesus’ feet together so we can have feet that can run freely, both literally and spiritually.
Jesus came not only to forgive our sins, but to save us from our sins. (Matthew 1:21)
Jesus said that, “everyone who practices sin is a slave to sin. The slave does not remain in the house forever; the son remains forever. So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.” (John 7:34-36)
Jesus came to set us free from the power of sin over our lives.
We don’t have to be chained in our race of life by certain sins any longer but can repent and receive power by the Holy Spirit to walk and run in freedom.
The kingdom of God does not consist only of talk but of power.
Tap into what has been purchased fully for you by Jesus.
Not only were we given the opportunity to live in freedom, but even more we have been called to freedom.
I pray that we walk in that calling today and do not allow any sins to chain us down in this race of life.
GO:
- Are there any sins that you need to repent of?
Look at Psalm 139:23-24 and wholeheartedly turn away from any sins and turn to God. - What are some ways that you can serve those around you through Christ’s love?
- How can you walk and live more freely as a Christian?
