Exodus 3:9-10
“The Israelite cry for help has come to ME, and I’ve seen for MYSELF how cruelly they’re being treated by the Egyptians. It’s time for you to go back: I’M sending you to Pharaoh to bring MY people, the people of Israel, out of Egypt.”
God’s calling for Moses has not changed at all.
God did not use Moses 40 years earlier because it was not the right time.
God has His plans and purpose.
God wanted Moses to learn meekness and humility, to rely on His powerful and spectacular intervention and to await His timing.
By the time Moses was eighty, Moses was no longer an idealistic, impulsive, fiery visionary.
He was an old man whom God almost cajoled (Ex. 3) and even threatened (Ex. 4:14) into obedience.
There was therefore no sudden hero but only God, and no glory for anyone other than God — on His timing, according to His plan, by His means, for His glory—yet in interaction with His people.
God runs His world with perfection, passion, power, purpose, patience and with the right people, right planning, right preparation, and right position in time.
Have you been running alongside God or ahead of Him?
Are you running away from God’s plans and purposes?
Is it time to go back to where God has started?
