New Heart: Go for the Soft Approach

READY:

“I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will remove your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh.”

Ezekiel 36:26

SET:
Since the fall, our default heart condition is one in comparison to that of a stone – hardened.
Something that is rock solid is hard to penetrate, hard to break, hard to separate.
What does it mean to have such a heart? Why did God have to remove such a heart from us mankind?

Ask yourself:

  • Do you have issues being corrected by others?
  • Are you teachable in general?
  • Do you allow other voices in your life?
  • Are you open to advices and counsel?

The questions above will give you some hints to the condition of your heart as to whether is it hard or soft.
Ultimately,  it is returning to the redeemed state of who we are in Christ, being a son that has a burning desire to cry out ‘Abba Father’ (Romans 8:15).
Embracing your sonship is a revelation that allows you to connect and engage with God the Father with a heart that is ‘soft’.

It is a heart that give access freely and fully to God.
Such a heart welcomes discipline and allows vulnerabilities.
There is that ‘softness’ where it is mouldable and changeable.
Such is a renewed heart.
One that longs for transformation and spiritual formation that only Christ can bring.
One that seeks for nothing less that God’s perfect will and plans for their lives.

Bible speaks about the deceitfulness of sin that will eventually lead to a hardened heart, causing the voice of God to progressively diminished from one’s life (Hebrews 3:15).
Very naturally, when one decides to exclude God from his/her life, which is sin, that person will soon developed the kind of heart which is mentioned above – A hardened heart.

Do not go down that path of that of the prodigal son or even his brother who seem normal on the outside but similarly functioning out of an orphan’s heart, comparing, complaining, and condemning.

You are loved, chosen, accepted and set apart for His glory.
You are His, His child, His beloved child whom He has a destiny.

A heart that is ‘soft’ is one that is grown out of a relational conducive environment with a unconditional loving Father. Such a person knows the Father’s heart and have experienced the Father’s love.
God the Father has predestined each one of us to sonship.

Take the soft approach, be a son to Abba Father and have a heart of flesh.

GO:

·      Re-evaluable the hardness/condition of your own heart. From a scale of 1-10 (1-Extremely Soft & 10-Extremely Hard), how soft/hard is your heart?

·      What is your understanding of sonship? Read Romans 8.

·      How does the understanding of sonship affect the condition of your heart?
