Running with the Ultimate Pacer
R.eflect
“Only let your manner of life be worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I come and see you or am absent, I may hear of you that you are standing firm in one spirit, with one mind striving side by side for the faith of the gospel.”
Philippians 1:27

In this race of life, it can be exhausting at times to keep pressing on.
Yet in God’s manifold wisdom, He often sends “pacers” onto our path—people who run alongside us so that we can continue with endurance, often at just the right time.
“Let us run with endurance the race that is set before us…”
Hebrews 12:1
Notice that this verse does not say, “You run with endurance the race set before you.”
Instead, there is an emphasis on running together.
Following Jesus is not meant to be a solo race.
It is something we get to do side by side.
If God is calling each of us to run with endurance, He also knows exactly what we need—and who we need—to help us run this race well.
A friend of mine recently raced her first half marathon.
During the race, specific pacers ran at designated speeds to help runners reach the goals they had set.
Not only did she finish the race, but she finished faster than she expected.
Part of the reason was that she was not running alone—she had a pacer and was running side by side with others in the race.
Perhaps today God has placed a pacer in your life to help you press on and keep running with courage.
Or maybe in this season, God has called you to be a pacer—someone who encourages another runner to keep moving forward.
What pace is God calling you to run in this season of life?
I have made it my aim to run this race in such a way that when I reach the finish line, the only thing left to do is fall on my knees in worship—knowing that I gave my all for Him and for His glory (1 Corinthians 9:24–27).
I pray that He reminds us that He is the God of endurance and encouragement, and that He will supply every need we have so that His name will be glorified (Romans 15:5; Philippians 4:19).
Remember, Jesus is our ultimate Pacer.
He leads the way on this path of life, and He runs with us every step of the journey.
Let Him be your Savior, your Strength, your Hope—your All in All.
And together, let us continue to run with endurance.
