Run as an Overcomer
READY:
”For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith.”
1 John 5:4
SET:
What does an overcomer look like?
This is certainly not a trick question!
An overcomer is simply a person who overcomes something.
So the question is, “What is that something?”
What are we trying to overcome daily, periodically or habitually?
Is it life’s pressures, regular fears, temptations, unforgiveness, disappointments, hatred, bad habits, negative lifestyles etc.?
Remember that we are in this world but not of this world.
In this world, there will be troubles and tribulations but Jesus has overcame the world and victory is on His side.
Whose side are you on?
I like how Apostle Paul illustrated in 2 Corinthians 4:8-9,
“We are pressed on every side by troubles, but we are not crushed. We are perplexed, but not driven to despair. We are hunted down, but never abandoned by God. We get knocked down, but we are not destroyed. Through suffering, our bodies continue to share in the death of Jesus so that the life of Jesus may also be seen in our bodies.”
2 Corinthians 4:8-9
Above is a description of a true overcomer in action!
Even though we do suffer, which is something that we are not exempted from, yet we are more than conquerers, able to bear fruits, experience victories and become more and more like Christ in the process.
Faith is the key and the secret weapon that is found in every overcomer.
The spirit of an overcomer is embedded in the DNA of every believer!
Claim it and declare it boldly with confidence.
It takes faith to be an overcomer.
The only way that we can block all the fiery arrows from the enemy is to hold up high, strategically, our shield of faith.
Our salvation is only through faith in Jesus being the Son of God, and that makes you and I an overcomer (1 John 5:5).
Our faith has to be alive, authentic, and active so that we can persevere on in this endurance race and ultimately receive the crown of life in due time and enjoy the fruit from the tree of life in the New Jerusalem.
That is something to look forward to when we learn to run as an OVERCOMER!
