Genesis 12:1-3 “…I will make you…I will bless you…you will be a blessing…all people will be blessed through you…

Have you ever wondered why God chooses to bless you? Have you ever thought of all the things that God has blessed you with? Have you ever looked at what is in your ‘hands’ at this season or junction in your life?

James 1:17 says “Every desirable and beneficial gift comes out of heaven“(MSG), and indeed, everything that you have is from God.

God positions us, for a purpose so that the prosperity of God will be ushered to all His people.

What a powerful statement to bring us, believers, back to the source of focus on the blesser, not so much the blessing.

Remember that behind every blessing, there is a blesser and He is none other than our Heavenly Father.

The word ‘blessed’ is Ashar in Hebrew and it means having joy in walking a straight path, in the right path or the right direction.

It was never about possessions, power, prestige or positions.

It has always been about the purposes, promises and plans of God.

I am blessed when I know I am doing exactly what God wants me to do in this season, obeying and pleasing Him.

‘Kingdom Runners’ was downloaded into my spirit and heart through a vision from God and was incubated for a decade before it was birthed into a movement, a platform for discipleship, where I can do what God has placed upon my heart to do – Write.

Just like in Hebrews 12:1 “Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us“,

the runners of the past have finished their race, passed the baton and they have blessed us all with much encouragement, experiences and their excitement, just to see future generations, running with faith and fitness to finish their races.

There is always a greater purpose for the blessings

There is always a greater purpose for the blessings we receive and as we learn to usher and channel that blessing to others for God’s Name to be glorified, then only God will ensure the sustainability of that blessing in our life.

If God has blessed you with a heart for children, teach.

If God has blessed you with speed and quick feet, run.

If God has blessed you with good communication skills, preach.

God has blessed me with an inclination with words and encouragement, thus I write.

Must it always be the manner which I’ve mentioned? No, definitely not.

But as a child of God, knowing that we’re living for eternity, we are “Owners of none but Stewards of all“.

Everything that God has given to us is to allow us to take ownership of it and to almost always put it into ‘GOOD’ use for the glory of God.

It’s not merely what you do with your God-given gift, but it’s how you steward it and ultimately honour
God with it.

Blessedness is always a test of our stewardship

Blessedness is always a test of our stewardship in Christ and as you learn to be a willing vessel for God to use to be a blessing to others in terms of your time, words, actions, finances etc., then God will pour out His blessings upon your life.

Just like a little seedling lying in the hands of an individual: whether it can grow and ultimately bear fruit will be highly dependent on where it is placed and how much care is being showered upon it.

Seemingly, God has blessed each one of us with much today and the question is how you steward it for Kingdom purposes.

As a believer of Christ, think of how you can steward your blessings, big or small, in your life so that people can experience the grace, hope and unconditional love of God through you.

Let’s be sure of your position in Christ that we are blessed to be a much greater blessing for God!

Points for Reflection & Prayer:
  1. How have you been stewarding your blessings?
  2. Where is your focus: on the blesser or the blessings?
  3. What are some of your blessings which you can use to build God’s Kingdom?

God calls us to remember the people of faith who have set the example for us, to lay aside things that hinder our relationship with the Lord, and to run with endurance this race in front of us while fixing our eyes on the founder and perfecter of our faith.

Performance is an avenue that God created for Him to be glorified.
However, performance can become a dangerous pressure-cooker for individuals who make it their foundation, their identity, and their source of worth.
