A thief is only there to steal and kill and destroy. I came so they can have real and eternal life, more and better life than they ever dreamed of

John 10:10 MSG

Running a life without Jesus is not a real life.
A life without Jesus is like a life without a vision, a life that has no consideration of what God is saying through the word.
A life without Jesus will never seek to overflow, but only seek to do the bare minimum, trying to survive, and never to thrive.
There will never be a taste of the fullness of God.
One will always have the feeling of emptiness.
A life without Jesus will always end up dry, hunger, tasteless, thirsty, unsatisfied, empty and directionless.

Ever wondered why the Psalmist invites and urges us to taste the life that is filled with Jesus (Psalm 34:8)?
A Christ-centered life must be tasted!
That means that it requires one to physically and spiritually experience how rich and deep the goodness of God is.
I can hear about how delicious a nice dish is, smell it from afar or even read about the spectacular reviews, but until I have tasted the dish, it will only be information to my life.

God does not just want to fill me with information.
He wants to see transformation in my life and that requires me to have tasted Christ and daily putting Him on. (Romans 13:12-13)
On the contrary, the enemy is perfectly fine with me just having information without transformation.
The enemy is much more crafty, scheming and evil, and they come like a thief, ready to gain access into my life to steal, kill and ultimately lead me to destruction.

However, likewise, the enemy will only have permission if I give allowance for them to enter.
It is a choice.
What do I mean?
Jesus need to have the rightful place as King of my heart.
When there are gaps and spaces where there is allowances for others to become king, whether intentionally or unintentionally, that will be an opportunity for the enemy to have a foothold in my life, to start their process of destruction.
The enemy always wants to steal information of truth away from me, so that there would not be even a chance of ‘tasting’ the real life of Jesus!

Therefore I need to run my life centering around Jesus, running with Jesus.
Jesus came because He wants us to experience real, eternal life, which start now, not when we die physically.
Jesus needs to be the center when we are up on the mountain tops, and also down in the valleys, in our victories and also during our failures, and in every season of our lives.

Let it be that in every season that we can sing and shout out loud that His Name is beautiful, wonderful and powerful.
A life without Jesus is a fake life. Your life needs to revolve around Jesus, centering around His plans and purposes for you. You need to be real to yourself, to take the word of God and apply it in the reality of your life.
Ensure that Jesus is the vine where you are constantly connected to, that your life will be overflowing with the fullness of Christ.

I like what I heard recently through someone’s sharing that “My theology needs to be my biography“, indeed, let the word of God, the biblical theology empower me to live a life of Christ-likeness.

Prayer and Reflection:

  1. What does a Christ-centered life mean to you? Ponder & response to God in your own time.
  2. How can you be more watchful about allowing other ‘kings’ to rule over your heart?
  3. Read Romans 13:12-13. How can you put on Jesus every day?

God desires that deeply!
He wants you to know that He can be trusted and that He is ultimately in control.

God Pursues Us

As we live out our life mission of pursuing God, let us remember that it is He who first pursued us and continues to pursue us.
He is the reason we exist and the reason we serve.
